About Me..

I’m Carl, a London-based wine educator, host and performer, creating relaxed yet thoughtfully curated wine experiences that place terroir, storytelling and enjoyment at their heart.

My journey into wine began in Santorini in 2020. Tasting wines grown in volcanic soils, shaped by fierce winds and extreme heat, I became fascinated by how profoundly place influences what ends up in the glass. The same grape, transformed by its environment, could express something entirely unique. That moment changed the way I thought about wine — and ultimately led me here.

Before moving into the wine trade, I spent 19 years as a primary school teacher. Teaching gave me a deep appreciation for clear communication, structure and inclusivity — skills that now define my approach to wine education. I believe great wine tastings should feel welcoming, engaging and accessible, regardless of prior knowledge.

Alongside wine, I am a performer and musician, with years of experience leading groups and hosting live events. That performance background naturally shapes the atmosphere of my tastings: social, interactive and confident, with a strong sense of flow and connection. Wine is, after all, something best enjoyed together.

I am currently studying for the WSET Diploma and work professionally in the wine industry, but my philosophy remains simple: wine should never feel intimidating. My role is not to tell people what they should like, but to help them understand what they’re tasting and trust their own preferences.

Through Wine with Carl, I host private wine tastings, public events, wine clubs and creative collaborations — from intimate dinner parties to music-led and sing-along wine experiences. Every event is tailored to its audience, setting and purpose, with an emphasis on quality, warmth and genuine enjoyment.

If you’re looking for a wine host who combines knowledge with approachability — and education with atmosphere — you’re very much in the right place.
