Thanks so much for joining me for a wonderfully warm but fun afternoon!

Berthier Coteaux de Giennois

Loire Valley, France, Sauvignon Blanc

From the small and often overlooked appellation of Coteaux du Giennois in the eastern Loire Valley, this Sauvignon Blanc offers a fresh expression of the grape with aromas of citrus, gooseberry and green apple. The cool climate helps preserve vibrant acidity, while the region’s limestone-rich soils contribute an elegant mineral finish. Fermented in stainless steel to retain its bright fruit character, it’s a crisp, refreshing wine that perfectly showcases the purity of Sauvignon Blanc.

Key takeaway: Cool climate + stainless steel = freshness, vibrant fruit and a mineral finish.

£12.00 at Marks and Spencer

Stepp S Riesling

Pfalz, Germany, Riesling

Crafted by renowned winemaker Gerd Stepp, this dry Riesling comes from limestone-rich vineyards in Germany’s Pfalz region. The cool climate helps retain vibrant acidity, while the limestone soils contribute elegance and precision. Expect aromas of lime, green apple and white peach, with a crisp, mineral finish and excellent ageing potential.

Key takeaway: Cool climate and limestone soils produce Riesling with freshness, purity and remarkable longevity.

£14.00 at Marks and Spencer

Bodegas Loxarel Cora Blanco

Catalonia, Spain, Muscat de Alexandria and Xarel·lo

A fragrant white blend from Catalonia, combining the floral, grapey aromatics of Muscat de Alexandria with the freshness and structure of Xarel·lo. Expect aromas of honeysuckle, peach and tropical fruit, balanced by bright acidity, a subtle bitter edge and a stony, dry finish.

Key takeaway: A great example of how blending can combine aromatic intensity with freshness and structure.

Cave de Turckheim Gewürztraminer

Alsace, France, Gewürztraminer

A richly aromatic white from Alsace, showing the grape’s unmistakable perfume of lychee, rose petal and ginger spice. Gewürztraminer is naturally low in acidity and full in texture, giving this wine a rounded, generous feel on the palate. Its intensity makes it a brilliant match for fragrant, spicy food.

Key takeaway: A powerful aromatic grape where perfume, spice and texture take centre stage.

Medium to full-bodied with soft tannins and a silky finish, it’s an elegant expression of one of northern Italy’s most food-friendly red wines.
