Friday Wine Club Wine List - 5th June 2026
Thanks so much for joining me for a sparkling afternoon!
Allini Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. £8 at Lidl
Made using the Tank Method, where the second fermentation takes place in large pressurised tanks to preserve fresh fruit flavours. Expect notes of pear, green apple and white flowers, with a light body, gentle bubbles and a crisp, refreshing finish. Fresh, fruity and easy-drinking fizz.
Comte de Senneval Champagne Brut. £14 at Lidl
Made using the Traditional Method, where the second fermentation takes place in the bottle, followed by ageing on lees to develop complexity. Expect notes of citrus, green apple and brioche, with fine bubbles, bright acidity and a more structured style than the Prosecco - more complexity and more texture.
Cuvée Flamme d'Or Crémant de Loire Brut, Gratien & Meyer 2017. £20 at The Wine Society
Only produced in excellent vintages, the 2017 Cuvée Flamme d'Or is characteristically rich and creamy crémant with pinot adding structure to the predominantly chardonnay giving it finesse and elegance. It's a wine of great complexity following partial barrel fermentation and a remarkable seven years on its yeast lees.
Graham Beck Brut, South Africa. £17 at Majestic.
Made with the Méthode Cap Classique, identical to the traditional method used to make Champagne, this fizz uses the classic grape varieties of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It means it’s a real steal for fizz fans who love the taste of Champagne – but not the price. A warmer-climate take on traditional-method sparkling wine, combining ripe fruit with freshness and finesse.
Finca Miguel Rosado Brut. £8 at Marks and Spencer.
Made using the Traditional Method, with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle. Produced from red grapes, this rosé style offers aromas of strawberry, raspberry and red cherry, balanced by fresh acidity and fine bubbles. Superb with tapas such as cheeses and almonds, or an avocado salad.
This month’s Friday Wine Club explored sparkling wines from Italy, France, Spain and South Africa, showcasing how production methods, grape varieties and climate influence the style of fizz in your glass.
