Pressure Point Méthode Ancestrale £15 at The Good Wine Shop
Bottled before fermentation finishes, allowing the bubbles to form naturally in the bottle, this unfined and unfiltered pét-nat is gently cloudy by design.
In the glass it shows a delicate pale pink hue, with fresh aromas of strawberry and redcurrant. The palate is bright and lively, with a subtle yeasty note and hints of summer pudding. Clean, refreshing and full of character, it's an easy-going sparkling wine made for sunny days and relaxed drinking.
Teliani Valley Winery, 97 Kakhuri No8. £15.50 at The Good Wine Shop
A fun orange wine coming from Georgia with rich notes of dried fruit and nuts, all with a fresh finish. Kakhuri No8 is a blend of four indigenous Georgian varieties and the grapes are hand-harvested and then fermented using the traditional Kakhetian method before skin-contact fermentation adds that amber colour and a hint of tannins. One to drink cool, not chilled, and with fish or creamy cheese.
Adega Mengoba, Brezo Mencia. £15.00 at The Good Wine Shop
Gregory Perez's delicious Mencia from Bierzo has a soft, velvety texture with ripe red and dark fruit flavours lifted by Mencia's brisk acidity. A small amount of Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet, once widely planted here) gives the wine its more generous feel.
